The VU logo is characteristic of the identity of the VU. It depicts the griffin, a mythical creature with the good qualities of a lion, an eagle, and a horse. The different animals refer to the different scientific fields, which is stylistically expressed in a ‘classically’ designed body (alpha), a ‘mathematically’ designed head (beta), and freely sketched wings (gamma). The griffin looks back – it is aware of tradition. Based on its experience, it stands with both feet firmly on the ground. It combines this with a generous flight of imagination.
